Repository

The Repository (Main Menu / Repository) is the central place in Txture where all assets and links are gathered. It is, therefore, a good entry point for all information demands.

Introduction

When opening the repository, it will always display all assets in a single table. The repository shares most of its features with the Table Report although there are minor differences explained in the following:

At the top of the repository, a search bar allows to search for assets by name.

Subtractive query

To allow browsing of all assets, the repository starts with all assets and lets you remove/filter them via the Query Bar (think of a hidden "add all" Block). The query bar in the repository can be opened by a click on the Filters button.

Conditional styling

To have a consistent look across all users, only the Conditional Styling Rules are applied. Just create a new report from your current query if you want/need to apply custom conditional styles.

Edit columns

Using the Edit columns button on the top-right, the columns can be added or removed to the repository view. Columns can show properties or links of assets.

Manually adding new assets

In addition to the wide variety of adding data to Txture automatically (e.g. Data Sources, Importer, Surveys), the repository can be used for adding and managing data manually.

New assets are simply added using the +CREATE button that can be found prominently in the upper area. A click on this button allows you to select the New Asset option. After choosing the asset type, you will be facing a form that allows you to fill in properties and draw links manually. Learn more about manual data maintenance in the documentation about Manual Editing.

Creating a new report from the repository

A common use case for the repository is creating new reports. The workflow is as follows:

  1. Find the asset(s) you are interested in by filtering via the Query Bar.
  2. (Optionally) select the desired asset(s) in the table.
  3. Use the Create button and select either the option Report from All Assets or Report from Selected Assets to create a new report, either from all visible assets or from the selected assets.
  4. Choose the desired report type.

Choosing the right report type

Not all report types are suitable for all kinds of data. For example, a Donut Chart can easily work with thousands of elements, while a Dependency Report excels when working with smaller amounts of data.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Repository and a Table Report?
All Reports in Txture (including the table report) in general are additive: they start from an empty set, incrementally adding assets. The repository always starts from all Assets, then filters them, reducing the size of the result set. Also, there is only one repository per UI, while there can be many table reports open at the same time. The repository is intended as a starting point for all information needs.
