Dependency Report

The dependency report allows to visualize links between assets. It is possible to traverse through the assets and visualize them accordingly. The dependency report is also well suited for manually modeling constructs in Txture and is, therefore, frequently used during the Data Collection phase.

The following screenshot shows an example for a dependency report. In this example, the deployment stack of an application named "Smart Stock" is depicted.

Configuration

Follow the steps below to configure your own dependency report:

  1. There are four ways how to add assets to the dependency report:
    • Use the query bar on the left to add assets and paths between assets.
    • Use the Add assets or Add assets by type button to add one or more assets.
    • After you've added an asset, you can utilize it to link to other assets. To do so, hover over the asset and click on the link icon . This way of adding assets is useful to model stacks on the graph. Check out our how-tos for more information on modeling in the dependency report.
    • After you have added one asset, you can use this asset to traverse a link to related assets (see screenshot below). Right-click on your asset on the graph and traverse to another asset. You can either traverse to the asset's neighbors or traverse along a path to all other related assets.
  2. After you added all desired assets, you can rearrange assets and layers by drag and drop.
  3. Use the Save button to save the configuration of your dependency report.

Options and Tools

Right mouse click on canvas

Right click somewhere on the Canvas to access the general options.

  • Auto-group by: Choose a parameter to group your assets on the report.

  • Add Asset: Add an additional asset to your report.

  • Compare with scenario: Choose a scenario to compare the current state of your report.

Right-click on asset

A right mouse click on an asset will show you different options to edit the asset, use it in a new report or further model dependencies.

Traverse

  • Show Neighbors: This option adds the assets that are directly linked to your report. you can also run this operation multiple times to add more levels of connections.

  • Navigate to: Add an asset and links that are already modelled in your instance.

  • Resolve paths to: Choose an asset type to directly link your chosen asset to.

  • Resolve indirect paths to: Choose an asset type to indirectly link your chosen assets to. Using this option will also insert the in between steps to link to the chosen asset type.

  • Resolve paths between sections: Select 2 or more assets and use this option to find the connection between them.

Remove

The remove function hides an asset from the report.

Edit

You can use the Edit function to edit one or multiple assets directly from the report. Changes from this edit option will change the assets in your repository.

Delete

Delete assets directly from the report. Deleting an asset will delete it from the repository of your instance. If you just want to hide the asset from the report, use the remove function.

Shows all existing link types that are available in your instance. Choose from the list and add the asset that you would like to link.

Export

The dependency report can be exported as PDF, PNG or SVG file by using the report menu in the upper right corner.
