Solution Workbench

The Solution Workbench allows for creating comprehensible cloud solution architecture diagrams. These diagrams represent all the structural aspects of a cloud target architecture by visualizing cloud services, service configurations of an application, and cloud service dependencies.

The Solution Workbench is used in two different areas of the Target Architecture section within the Transformation Cockpit:

  1. To model a proposal from scratch.
  2. To view and edit an auto-generated cloud proposal on a graph diagram.

Cloud proposals can be opened in the Solution Workbench to visualize the cloud stack of proposed target architectures for the selected application. In particular, the graphical view allows for dependencies between the individual components to be clearly represented.

The "Show Removed Assets" button displays assets from the original application stack. This allows you to determine which assets of the previous architecture are no longer required for deploying the application according to the cloud proposal.

Customizing Cloud Proposals

In some situations, it may be necessary to manually adjust the cloud proposals auto-generated by Txture. Using the Solution Workbench, existing components can be replaced or removed manually or additional cloud products can be modeled.

Additional products can be added as follows:

  1. Hover over the asset to which you wish to link a new product.
  2. Click the green plus icon and next on "Create and select a product".
  3. Choose the product you want to add from the product catalog.
  4. Select the desired product instance taking into account the instance size, region and other parameters.
  5. Confirm your selection by clicking on "Select Product Instance".
  6. Save your customized proposal so you can access it later.

Existing components can be replaced as follows:

  1. From the graph view, select the component you want to change.
  2. You have the option of replacing the complete cloud product or simply selecting a different instance of the same product.
  3. Depending on what you decide to do, click on the corresponding pen symbol to open the product or instance catalog.
  4. Select your product and/or instance and confirm your selection by clicking on "Select Product Instance".
  5. Back in the graph view, you may rename the instance you just selected by hitting the pen symbol next to the name in the sidebar.
  6. Save your customized proposal so you can access it later.
