Cost and Carbon Modeling
Txture supports a comprehensive model for IT Cost Modeling. This mechanism can be used to manage, distribute and allocate:
- Financial Cost
- Carbon Emissions
- Energy Consumption
The following example outlines how the propagation works for financial cost:
The key concepts are:
-
Propagation along the structure
Existing assets and links are used to propagate costs, making the most of your existing repository data. -
From concrete to abstract high-level concepts
Concrete technical assets provide base costs while high-level conceptual assets receive associated costs. -
Aggregation
If an asset depends on multiple others, their cost is summed up and associated to the parent asset. -
Splitting
If multiple parent assets depend on the same child asset, the cost of the child asset is split up. Utilize the default even split or take control over the splitting yourself. -
Cost Categories
Cost isn't homogenous. We differentiate between Runtime Cost, CAPEX Cost and License Cost by default and propagate them individually. -
Extensibility
You can add custom cost fields to suit your specific needs. -
Beyond the Tech Stack
Cost Propagation does not stop at the Application level. Propagate costs through your organizational structure, all the way up to your Organizational Units and Business Capabilities. -
More than just finance
Utilize the same mechanisms to propagate financial costs, carbon emissions and energy consumption.
