Assessment Preferences

Assessment Preferences (Main Menu / Transformation Cockpit / Preferences/ Assessment Preferences) allow to manage Txture's Assessment Rules. Assessment Rules are used during the application assessment to evaluate the cloud readiness, cloud benefit and migration risk of applications and to provide hints on data completeness problems. Therefore, these rules apply in both, the section Data Collection and Assessment.

Assessment Rules are grouped into four different categories:

  • Application complexity
  • Technical configuration
  • Business perspective
  • Data risk.

In addition to the description text, it is always specified which data is required to execute a rule and how a rule influences the overall assessment result.

Assessment Rule example

In the example below, the rule assesses whether the application’s interfaces are using cloud-suitable protocols. Therefore, this rule requires information about the protocol type of interfaces, which are maintained in interface assets’ corresponding property named “Protocol Type”. As a result, this rule influences the Cloud Readiness and the recommended Migration Strategy of the application.

Deactivating rules and managing rule impact

In case a rule is not relevant for your assessment or the required data is not available, you can deactivate a rule. You can use the drop down to the right to set the impact level of the rule. Set a high impact factor if the rule is particularly important for your assessment. The impact factor determines the weight of this rule on the total assessment outcome. In addition to choosing a low, medium, or high impact of a rule on the assessment, you can decide if a rule should take precedence in the assessment by selecting overrule.

You can either deactivate a rule globally, which affects all your applications, or you can deactivate rules for a single application. For this, use either the overview mode or the application mode like it is explained in the Cloud Transformation Cockpit orientation. It's also possible to specify the rule set for an Business Application, or a Cloud Preferences Group.

Info:

It is currently not possible to activate a rule only for a single application. The global rule set represents the maximum of available assessment rules.
